Discover the joy of painting! This is a workshop for painters who want to loosen up and learn a fun, expressive way to paint, or beginners who want to learn to paint. You will be taught a very simple method of painting in which you will use big brushes, lots of acrylic paint, and work in a bold, expressive manner. You will quickly see that "its not about WHAT you paint, its about HOW you paint it." The most common everyday objects can become a work of art, when you paint them according to this method.

Using ACRYLIC paints, you will learn a step-by-step approach to painting a simple still life in a very fast expressive style. Classes will start out with basic instructions in composition, color mixing and brush handling, followed by a 30 minute demonstration. The focus will be on capturing the large shapes and lighting effect rather than rendering small details. Students will be encouraged to work quickly and decisively with as few brush strokes as possible. All will be prompted to use color intuitively and boldly. Each participant will finish several small paintings in the span of the class time. The workshop is taught by award-winning illustrator and fine artist Patti Mollica. More work can be seen at: http://www.mollicastudio.com
